
Day 5 | Driving Change Through Research and Innovation
Day 5 of the School for Young Leaders 2025 featured a distinguished online program dedicated to the role of the United Nations and evidence-based innovation in shaping a sustainable future.


Participants had the honor of hearing a special address by Rita Columbia, United Nations Resident Coordinator, who highlighted the critical role of multilateral cooperation and youth engagement in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The day continued with an insightful lecture by Lazar Pop Ivanov, Head of Experimentation at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), titled: π βDriving Change Through Research and Innovation.β
Through practical examples and forward-looking perspectives, the lecture explored how research, experimentation, and innovative approaches can accelerate development outcomes and support more effective public policies. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of young leaders in contributing to systemic change and in shaping global processes, including the Pact for the Future.
Together, the sessions underscored the importance of knowledge, innovation, and responsible leadership in addressing complex global challenges and translating global commitments into local impact.
On this occasion, the School for Young Leaders also extends its warm congratulations to the United Nations on its 80th anniversary, celebrating eight decades of global cooperation, peacebuilding, and sustainable development efforts worldwide.
